The School's Mission

St John Fisher School seeks to help and encourage pupils to develop individually, collectively and freely a way of life modelled on Christ, in accordance with the faith of the Roman Catholic Church.

Derived from the mission, and the ethos statement, the school's pupils will develop:-

* self-esteem and high aspirations
* the qualities of openness, freindliness, charity and care
* appropriate skills, understanding, knowledge and accredited qualifications
* confidence and the ability and desire to be involved in domestic,
   family,social and community affairs
* a proactive interest in health, leisure and environmental issues.

They will become autonomous, life-long learners, well used to working in partnership with a variety of individuals and groups.

Factors, which sustain and further develop the achievement of the school's mission, through its pupils, include its Catholic, Christian and comprehensive ethos, and partnership between interested parents, professional and committed staff, and growing children and young people.

All pupils study religious education and engage in collective prayer and worship.  The Liturgy Co-ordinator works with the school's many chaplains and staff to produce an annual programme of masses, penitential services, other liturgies, extended assemblies, sixth form spiritual impact days, retreats, charitable work and special events.  All pupils, placed in classes for the various subjects, will be challenged and expected to learn and progress appropriately.  They will be moved to other classes if their pace of learning makes that appropriate.
